The Falcon
The defensemen, who towers just about everyone at 6’7, from Minsk, Belarus (bordering Russia and Ukraine) has become quite the fan favorite this 2019-20 season. Falkovsky known as “The Falcon” amongst teammates has lead the ECHL defensemen in goals for several months now. He currently leads the defensemen with 15 goals.
Playing History
The 23-year-old has played for two other ECHL teams besides the Americans, the Adirondack Thunder and the Manchester Monarchs. In the 2017-18 season, he was called up to the AHL for the Ontario Reign and played 44 games. During his time with the Reign, he collected 3 goals and 4 assists.
In Falkovsky’s 2016-17 season with the Adirondack Thunder, he played 54 games with 21 goals and 11 assists totaling 32 points. Despite 32 points being a great year for a defenseman, Falkovsky has already blown those stats out of the water this 2019-20 season. In only 46 games, Falkovsky has picked up 15 goals and 26 assists totaling 41 points. Simply put, Falkovsky has dominated the ECHL and by the looks of it, will continue to do so for the remainder of the season.
Post Game Interview with Falkovsky
I recently caught up with Stephan after an 8 – 5 win over the Wichita Thunder, a division rival. Falkovsky not only had 1 goal and 3 assists on the night but jokes to go with his stellar performance. Stephan isn’t the most talkative player, but he is quick to give his teammates credit for his success on the ice. #3 certainly makes a significant contribution to the Americans’ defense and offense, especially come time for the ECHL playoffs in April.
