Allen Americans Sheehy & Breton Leading ECHL in Assists

We’ve seen a lot of assists from the Sheehy & Breton duo with 44 apiece! However, this is not the first time Sheehy or Breton has stepped into the spotlight this season. The forward and defensemen have made quite the name for themselves all year and continue to serve as integral assets to this Allen Americans team.

Tyler Sheehy

As the rookie, Tyler Sheehy impressed many by taking the title of ECHL Allstar this year. Despite being called up and an injury that required him to miss several games, he currently leads the ECHL rookies with 70 points and is tied for the team lead in goals (26) with Jordan Topping. Most players leading in the standings have played over 55 games, whereas Sheehy has only played 47. Impressive to say the least.

We’ve seen a whole lot of 🍎🍎🍎 from this duo!

Alex Breton

Interestingly enough, in Alex Breton’s rookie season last year, he was also named Allen’s ECHL Allstar. Coincidence, or just a sign that Allen has quite the pull of young talent? It seems the latter is true. Breton currently leads all ECHL defensemen with 55 points and 44 assists.

I caught up with Breton before the Wichita game on February 29th and asked him about the key to his success this season. He attributed his outstanding year to “just playing my game” and “all of my teammates, we score a lot of goals.” With a team total of 88 points, I think it’s safe to say that Breton is right, the Americans have had quite the offensive season!

Playoffs Clinched

After the win over Tulsa on March 3rd, the Americans have clinched their playoff position and only follow South Carolina and Florida who are tied with 92 points. The first two games will be played in Allen on April 10th and 11th.
