Allen Americans Clinch Playoff Position

Playoff Bound

After Tuesday night’s overtime win in Tulsa (March 3rd), the Americans clinch their playoff position! This is the tenth time in eleven seasons that the Americans have qualified for the postseason. The Americans currently lead the Mountain Division with 88 points and only trail to South Carolina and Florida who are tied with 92 points.

Win over Tulsa

Tuesday night’s overtime win was not Allen’s first overtime experience. The team has had eleven wins in overtime which will undoubtedly help come playoff time. Currently, there are only two ECHL teams with more than seven overtime wins, Allen (11) and Idaho (9),  and they will both be in the Mountain Division playoffs.

After the overtime win, Coach Martinson said, “We will take the win. We have a lot of guys out of the lineup between loans to the AHL and injuries. They had their “A” team so we will take the two points. I am going to have to bring in a few players if our guys stay up in the AHL much longer.”

Defense

This season has made it clear that Allen has a lot of players that can score, but last night’s game reinforced that the Americans are more than capable to win a 1-0 game just as well as an 8-5 game. Defense is what will put the Americans on top, especially as they make their way to playoffs.

Playoff Party Plans

After talking with Tommy Daniels, the Americans’ Vice President of Broadcasting and Communications, he hopes to carry on the postseason tradition of “painting the town red.” In addition, there will be a Playoff Pep Rally held at The Cajun Place. Dates to be posted soon.

As for now, “don’t stop living in the red!”
